A Philosophy of Giving Back

The key purpose of my business is to provide a space for healing and insight to occur.  I don't believe healing comes specifically from me, or something I'm necessarily doing.  I believe it comes from within the person coming to see me.  Something happens when we reach out for help.  Something powerful.  When we finally say, "I can't do this on my own anymore" and we reach out to another, we actively set something in motion that inspires healing.  Suffering is inevitable, suffering alone is intolerable.  We are designed to move toward others when we are in distress.

My motivation for donating a small percentage of my profits to Yarns Heal is inspired by Campaign Ambassador, Steven Oliver's words, "Yarns Heal.  They make your Spirit Strong.  When you are strong and you connect with another person you make them strong".  I too believe that when we share our vulnerability and our story with another person that we trust, both people are touched by the experience, and it is within that alchemy that healing happens.

It's important to me to give back to other's through my business so that we can all make our Spirit's Strong.  When you participate in any of the services or training that I provide, you can be assured that you are making a difference in this world because a percentage of your fee will go towards this amazing initiative.

Yarns Heal is a suicide prevention campaign for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and LGBTIQ+ Sistergirl and Brotherboy community.  It's about sharing stories and reaching out to loved ones and 'Community Cultural Connectors' when times are tough.  Yarns Heal will help teach how to better support one another and aims to strengthen peer support systems to access help in culturally safe ways that nurture cultural healing, love and hope.

We're all in this together and if a small donation can support just one person to reach out and feel less alone, then we will be making a difference.  Together.

Acknowledgement of Country

Diversity is Welcome

I would like to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s First People, Traditional Custodians and Sovereign owners of this country.  I value their cultures, identities and continuing connection to country, waters, kin and community.  I pay my respects to Elders past and present and am committed to making a positive contribution to the wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by providing services that are welcoming, safe, culturally appropriate and inclusive.  I acknowledge that Sovereignty was never ceded.
I am  committed to embracing diversity and eliminating all forms of discrimination in the provision of counselling & training services. I welcome all people irrespective of ethnicity, lifestyle choice, faith, sexual orientation and gender identity.
